We now reach the fun part of the collection! Is what I'd
like to say if this opening entry wasn't so disappointing...
WARNING !!!: this entry contains
mentions of SA and other yaoi tropes that might be
traumatizing and triggering. I DO NOT approve of any of the content in this dj and WAS NOT aware of it when I bought it
so please skip ahead to read the other (sfw and romantic!) entry if you want none of that ugly stuff!
I had been hunting this dj solely for the artwork which
I absolutely adore (Was that the first mistake? get it? like
the dj's title?). And that's where the good stuff of this dj
ends. I still feel the same about the bara artstyle being
immaculate (and yes this was written by a gay man!) and is
basically the only reason why I still haven't trashed this. Unfortunately, although the artist is a gay man
and not a straight woman, the interaction evolves in SA pretty quick and other shitty yaoi tropes. Rukawa is depicted as a predator which I absolutely hate
and it ends up with him and Sakuragi throwing punches at each other.
I think I'm supposed to find it
funny because Sakuragi and Rukawa tend to always fight each other for dumb stuff both in canon and other dj, but... in this case it really isn't, especially after witnessing Sakuragi getting
assaulted. Anyway, I have no desire to scan this, also
because I really have no idea who would enjoy this. Though
this is an addition to my collection I'd rather not have, it
taught me my lesson the hard way. Buying NSFW doujinshi
blind is like stepping on a landmine and I feel dumb for not
even considering it might not be as pleasing as i think it'll be.
Cover is still holy though, and it has nothing to do with its
content so it's fine to look at.
Now that we're done with the heavy stuff let's move onto the *good* stuff, which is romance ~ ! A push-and-pull
romance between the lovely Sakuragi and Rukawa, also featuring... a past relationship
between Rukawa and Sendoh?!
This doujinshi is apparently part of a collection I REALLY hope to get more of on
my hands since the art style is absolutely adorable and
are only collections of connected (i think?), sweet and cute short stories.
Usually a common trope in Ruhana doujinshi is Rukawa
having an unrequited love for Sakuragi but... this time is
the other way around! (so cute). Sakuragi's love for Rukawa distracts him in his daily
life and his temper makes it
difficult for him to express his feelings correctly, so of course Rukawa
easily gets offended whenever Sakuragi treats him so badly...
And another obstacle for our lovesick Sakuragi seems to be Sendoh, who's overly touchy
and confidential with Rukawa, making Sakuragi jealous in
turn! What will happen next?!
I yet have to scan and fully translate this but it's really
sweet and adorable from what I've read. This author has
really sold me so next time I see a Ruhana dj of the same
artist I'll definitely do anything to get my hands on it!!
